British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
