19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
