World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break after the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
