Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
